in a rich history. It is the gateway to Omey Island and all that is there to explore. It is known for its deep sea
anglings as well as trips to Inis Bofin and surrounding islands. It has countless fabulous sandy beaches. It offers
a wide range of activities including pony trekking, pitch & putt, historical walks and tours and endless beaches and
walks. Claddaghduff is located approximately 12 kms northwest of Clifden, the capital of Connemara!
The second annual Claddaghdfuff Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 26th, 2010. This is a fundraising event
with an entry fee of €15 per person. Proceeds will go towards the costs outstanding from the recent refurbishment of
Claddaghduff Hall. Entry is open to all; individuals or teams in any combination. Registration will take place on
the day at 1:30pm in Claddaghduff Hall.
The triathlon will start at 3:00pm sharp with a 4.5 km tidal swim from Acton’s Beach in Cushatrough. The swim is timed
to coincide with the rising tide so swimmers are aided by the incoming tide.
Following the swim, there will be an 18 km cycle from The Priory in Doon out through Fountainhill, Tank Road, Emlough,
Aughrisbeg, Aughrismore and Claddaghduff Hall. The cycle will be followed by a 4.5 km run from Claddaghduff Hall to
Sweeney’s Bar, Larragan, Auighrismore, Patches and finishing at Sweeney’s.
This is promised to be a really fun and exhilarating event so check your fitness level and come along and sign up.
